Montgomery Real Estate

Located adjacent to the nation's capital of Washington DC, Montgomery County real estate is located in Maryland's most affluent and populous county.  Montgomery real estate is thriving, with an estimated population of  more than 930,000 residents. The county's population grew by 15 percent  between 1990 and 2000, which accounts for one quarter of the entire  state of Maryland's population change during this period. Growth in  Montgomery County outranked the growth at both the national and state  levels. The area is rolling with small hills and encompasses nearly 500  square miles of land area. The Potomac River and Great Falls separate  nearby Fairfax County from Montgomery County.

Because of its ideal location and accessibility to the METRO, 495  Beltway, and major international airports (Dulles, National, BWI),  Montgomery real estate is currently booming. The county is home to an  abundance of commuters who travel to and from Northern Virginia. In  2004, the median household income of Montgomery County was among the  highest in the United States at nearly $84,000. Approximately 41  percent of the county households have incomes of $100,000 or more. As  one of the most well educated counties in the nation, Montgomery County  placed first for the percentage of residents with graduate degrees, and  third for college-educated residents in the latest American Community Survey rankings. The area unemployment rate is well below state and national levels, standing at 2.9 percent in 2006.

Montgomery County was originally named after General Richard  Montgomery, and was established by the State Convention in 1776. Today,  there are 199 schools in Montgomery County that serve nearly 138,000  students. Thirty-two of the schools are National Blue Ribbon schools.  There are also several wonderful hospitals that include Shady Grove,  Holy Cross, Suburban, Washington Adventist, Montgomery General  Hospital, NIH, and the National Navy Medical Center.

A number of recreational activities are available to owners of  Montgomery County real estate, and the area is home to several national  and international PGA Golf Events. There are several public golf  courses in the area that include Falls Road in Potomac, Little Bennett  in Clarksburg, North West Park in Silver Spring, Poolesville in  Poolesville, and Redgate in Rockville. In addition, the Montgomery  County Agricultural Center hosts the annual Montgomery County Fair and  numerous other events here, year-round.
